Printmaking
Area Description
The Printmaking area in the Department of Art focuses on the creation of prints as an original form of artistic expression. Students are encouraged to explore the unique serial and replicable nature of printmaking, to engage with and respond to the creative process, and to work toward greater clarity of concept and extended investigation of process.
Graduate Program
The three-year graduate program in printmaking is limited to six students in residence, admitting two per year on a rotational basis. Emphasis is placed on developing a critical understanding of one’s conceptual and artistic practices, and situating oneself within a contemporary art context. Regular printmaking critiques are an essential component to that process and interdisciplinary approaches to the medium are actively encouraged.
